La mère des punu s'appelait Bouanga, Igorhu Bouengu ou Ndeyi.
Bouanga était belle, propre et noire. Elle était noire dans toute la perfection de son type, avec ses grands yeux noirs veloutés et son nez fin.
Elle était intraitable, belle, fière, volontaire, tenace et inébranlable. Elle était une cultivatrice avec des grands talents de chasseresses, aussi elle donna naissance à Bujala, Mitsimba, Bibamba, Bagambu, Bumwele, Yongu, Mitsumba, Badumbi, Dijaba, Dikanda, Ndingi, Bavela.
